Stephen Badylak

Biography
Dr. Stephen Badylak is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Surgery and director of Tissue Engineering at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1976, he received his D.V.M. from Purdue University and he completed his M.S. in Clinical Pathology from Purdue University in 1978. Dr. Badylak also holds a Ph.D. in Anatomic Pathology from Purdue University (1981) and graduated with highest honors with a M.D. from Indiana University Medical School in 1985.
Dr. Badylak is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He is a charter member and one of three United States member governors of the Tissue Engineering Society International. He is also a member of the Society for Biomaterials and the Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology Society. For his contributions to his field, he has been featured in several publications and has been the recipient of multiple awards, including most recently the Sigma Xi Scientific Society 2002 Research Award.
