Increasing diseases and mortality in old age may involve many different
mechanisms. So to speak about age-related changes is often more exact.
There are some soft strategies for postponing age-related changes. One
strategy is based on the all-cause mortality studies. These studies
refer to ways to postpone age-related changes through decreasing known
risk factors of these changes. It is possible to use many data of
epidemiological studies about different risk factors influencing
all-cause mortality. This strategy is carried out to some extent and
quite unintentionally in developed countries. The other strategy is
studying and taking into account weak sensations of discomfort in the
various regions of the human body to avoid their developing into
intensive symptoms and disorders. We have used this concept during
twenty years. We have developed special charts of the human body for
these studies. Our studies have shown that this approach is relatively
effective.
Ageing seems to be a mystery which studies will be useful for practice
in the future, not for to-day. Both strategies increase the interest
of people in ageing research as people can see real results.
