How You Can Help Extend Healthy Human Life

The Methuselah Foundation supports funding and fueling research into near, mid, and long-term strategies for overcoming the diseases of aging. In the near-term, My Bridge 4 Life™ can help you or anyone you know who is facing a life-threatening health challenge. Over the mid-term, the MPrize competition accelerates the creation of revolutionary solutions, and fosters scientific research that lays the foundation for life extension therapies for humans. For our long-term vision we remain firmly committed to continuing support for groundbreaking rejuvenation research, taking further strides in our global mission to develop, promote, and provide widespread access to regenerative medicine solutions and therapies to end the disabilities and diseases of aging. Here are some ways that you can join the growing movement to overcome the greatest medical challenge of our time: ending the diseases of aging.
  1. Do or develop the science
  2. Fund the Research
  3. Give and Receive My Bridge 4 Life™ Tips4Life
  4. Create New "Engineering" Insights
  5. Break the News
  6. Make Your Purchases Count
  7. Help Us Communicate
  8. Spread the Word

Note: even though there are links to separate items below, we recommend reading this page straight through from start to finish.

1. Do or develop the science
IF YOU'RE AN UNDERGRADUATE, GRAD STUDENT OR CURRENT POSTDOC IN BIOLOGY: We badly need biologists to work on the various aspects of our research.
If you'd like to apply to do SENS research, please email Dr. de Grey and tell him a bit about yourself; enclose your CV, and describe any current academic obligations (such as an ongoing PhD) and the amount of time you could commit to SENS work. Also please mention if there are any aspects of the SENS program that you'd be particularly well-qualified to work on, or where you have existing relevant experience.

2. Fund the Research.
Conventional medical charities, government medical research bureaucracies, and pharmaceutical giants continue to pursue the old, disease-by-disease, treatment-based approach to the diseases of aging, ignoring the new science that shows us how we can cure them all by repairing the damage of aging itself. That means it’s up to all of us to put the money in the hands of the scientists who can bring this new science out of the laboratory and into the clinic. The Methuselah Foundation is the only medical charity devoted directly to this mission. We offer you the opportunity to hasten the development of this advanced biomedical science through the Mprize, a competition which pools your money into the jackpot of a scientific competition to develop life extension therapies, beginning in the laboratory mouse.

3. Give and Receive My Bridge 4 Life™ Tips4Life.
My Bridge 4 Life™ is an online and offline community tool that takes the overwhelming nature of a major health crisis; divides it into manageable phases; sets goals for each phase with each user and their community; AND builds a wellness plan for life in the process. On April 7, World Health Day, My Bridge 4 Life™ launched Tips4Life. Tips4Life is a global database of real world wisdom. If you or anyone you know have overcome a life-threatening challenge, please take a few brief moments and share your wisdom with the people who will be following in your footsteps. Give and receive Tips 4 Your Life today!

4. Create New “Engineering” Insights
IF YOU'RE AN ENGINEER, COMPUTER SCIENTIST, ETC: Along with research scientists, the progress of new medical technology can be advanced by innovative ideas from people outside the field who have experience in solving practical engineering problems. If you’re an engineer or technologist, you can launch yourself into this interdisciplinary space by learning first the basics of the SENS platform, and then establishing needed technical foundations in cellular and molecular biology (for example, Essential Cell Biology or the more advanced Molecular Biology of the Cell (an earlier edition of which can be read online for free)) and of biogerontology.

5. Break the News
IF YOU'RE A JOURNALIST: write about My Bridge 4 Life™, the revolutionary online and offline community tool that offers near-term solutions to the diseases of aging; about the ground-breaking work being done by Mprize winners and competitors; and about advances in SENS science and the work of the Methuselah Foundation (you can find our press releases here). Contact Dave Gobel for interviews about Methuselah Foundation at media@mfoundation.org.

6. Make Your Purchases Count
When you go through the Methuselah Foundation’s GoodShop, a portion of your online purchases from Amazon, eBay, HSN, iTunes, Expedia, and many others are donated to the Foundation, where we can direct it into proven programs, like the Mprize.

If you're looking for books on the topic of life extension, then you can purchase them through the Foundation's hosted Amazon store, in which case an even greater fraction of the purchase price is redirected to us.

7. Help Us Communicate
To accelerate its progress in the science of extending healthy human life, the Methuselah Foundation needs Web designers and IT professionals, graphic designers and copywriters, fundraisers, and PR and marketing specialists to become volunteer soldiers in the War on Aging. See the Volunteers page.

8. Spread the Word
WHOEVER YOU ARE: Talk with your friends, family, loved ones, and colleagues about the new rejuvenation science and why you want to help end the diseases of aging. If you have a website or blog, help to educate your readers by exploring the issues and possibilities online, and by linking to the Methuselah Foundation’s website. Be ready to address some of the common questions and concerns that they may have about a future life free of age-related suffering and death. Also be ready to discuss the outlines of the science that will be needed to meet this biomedical challenge by reading Ending Aging. Help to spread that understanding by loaning your copy out, by giving copies to friends and associates, and donating copies to libraries and other institutions.

IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE FITTING ANY OF THE ABOVE DESCRIPTIONS: why are you still reading? Go and tell them what they can do to help, and make sure they do it!

IF YOU'RE NONE OF THE ABOVE: well, become something! You will be surprised that achieving goals gets much easier and much more fun once you are personally fully motivated for something and understand why you are.
