First global summit will attract longevity superstars to Ireland

If you need more proof that the field of longevity research has gone mainstream, here goes:

People from around the world are buying tickets to attend the first Global Longevity Summit, to be held in Dublin, Ireland, from Sept. 18 to 20.

More than two dozen Longevity experts from around the world will discuss the breakthroughs underway in life extension research.

The event is remarkable because it demonstrates just how far this field of research has come. When Methuselah Foundation began its efforts in the year 2000, many people associated longevity research and life extension with science fiction. Today, it is very much mainstream science.

Prominent universities and eminent researchers around the world are achieving breakthroughs as they search for ways to improve the quality of life for a global population that is growing older. And the work is expanding, involving more researchers and attracting more investment. But in 2030, the longevity science market is expected to exceed $44 billion.

All this was built on the vision and persistence of people who saw aging and age-related diseases as illnesses to be treated, and not problems to be shrugged off – as medicine had done for hundreds of years.

Joining other longevity thought leaders on stage will be Methuselah Foundation co-founder David Gobel, who will discuss how some of the progress achieved in longevity research has resulted from incentive prizes, such as the Methuselah Mouse Prize, which challenged researchers to find ways to extend the lifespan of mice in lab settings.

Methuselah Foundation’s mission is to make 90 the new 50 by 2030. We continue to support incentive prizes to attract smart people to find solutions that will help us overcome the barriers to a longer healthspan. In Dublin, Gobel will also announce two initiatives aimed at helping to advance longevity science progress.

If you’re interested in attending, early bird registration has been extended till July 31.
