Evidence for Cause of Alzheimer's Disease

New research from Leucadia Therapeutics offers strong evidence that aging by the cribiform plate (CP) plays a critical role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

The new findings support Leucadia founder’s hypothesis that impaired drainage of cerebrospinal fluid through the cribiform plate is an important contributing factor in etiology of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

As the drainage path through the CP is blocked with age and injury, metabolic waste builds up in the olfactory bulb, where Alzheimer’s pathology initially starts. Researchers’ ultimate goal is to end Alzheimer’s disease by unblocking the CP drainage path.

We are closer to understanding the cause for Alzheimer’s, the common and distressing form of dementia afflicting more than 1 in 9 people aged 65 and over across the globe.
